vandeven deluxe is found in the oldest part of the hague, close to the grote kerk and a short walk from Paleis Noordeinde and the binnenhof.
in 1570, by order of the city magistrate, this historic heart was lit with candle lanterns for the very first time.
33 lanterns
with 33 lanterns the hague became the first city in the land with public street lighting.
hague candle makers, united in the Guild of Saint Nicholas, made and supplied the candles.
